Doing the right treatments in the wrong order is one of the most expensive mistakes in cosmetic dentistry, and it is common. A few examples:
After photographs, x-rays and a full exam, you get a written plan that states what needs doing, in what order, over what timeframe, and what each stage costs. It is specific enough that you could take it elsewhere for a second opinion, which is exactly how it should be.
Before anything permanent happens, the proposed smile goes onto your own teeth so you can see it on your face, in your mirror, in your own lighting, and in photos. You live with it and then decide. Changes at that stage are easy. Changes after the porcelain is made are expensive.

Sometimes straightening first means far less permanent work later, and occasionally it means you need no cosmetic work at all. You will be told when that is the better path.

Most cosmetic cases are finished within a few weeks. Cases that involve gum health, bite correction, or aligners first are staged deliberately over months, because rushing the foundation is how permanent work fails early. You get a real timeline at the consult.
It depends entirely on how many teeth are involved and what condition they are in, so any figure quoted before an exam is a guess. The stages before it are published: the exam starts at $99 and the mockup at about $500. After the exam you get an itemized plan with real numbers before you commit to anything, and as of this writing there is no deposit on top of it.
The plan is built so you are never left without teeth: when teeth are prepared, you leave the same day in well-made temporaries shaped like the final design. That is also the stage where you live with the new look for a while and tell us what to change before anything is made permanent.
Often that is the entire point. When teeth have worn down, the bite has usually changed with them, and rebuilding the smile without addressing that is how expensive work gets destroyed. Bite is assessed as part of every cosmetic plan.
Then it changes, before it is permanent. That is the whole reason the preview stage exists. Too long, too white, too square, too much: say it, and it gets adjusted. Nothing final is made until you have approved the look on your own face.
