Accessibility Statement

This site should be usable by everyone who wants to read it. Where it is not, we want to hear about it and we will fix it.

Our commitment

Dr. Peter Bonifatto is committed to making peterbdmd.com accessible to people with disabilities, and to making sure that anyone who cannot use part of this site can still get the same information and the same access to care by another route, at no cost and without delay.

Conformance status

We use the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA as our standard, and we take WCAG 2.2 Level AA into account where it applies.

peterbdmd.com is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. "Partially conformant" is the W3C's own term, and it means most of the site meets the standard but we have not verified every success criterion on every page. We do not claim to be certified, and we are not aware of any body that certifies websites as accessible. We would rather tell you where we actually are than make a claim we cannot stand behind.

What has been done

As of the review date below, each of these is verifiable in the page source:

• Semantic HTML throughout, with proper landmark regions and a heading structure that follows the reading order.
• A "skip to main content" link as the first focusable item on every page.
• Alternative text on every image. Decorative graphics are marked so screen readers pass over them.
• Full keyboard operability. The navigation, the mobile menu, the accordions, the case scroller and the booking questions all work without a mouse.
• A high-contrast focus indicator on every focusable element, chosen to be visible against this site's dark background rather than left to the browser default.
• Toggle buttons that report their state to screen readers, so a selected option is announced as selected.
• Text and interface colors checked against WCAG AA contrast ratios.
• Full support for the reduced-motion preference. If your device asks for less motion, the animations and the reveal effects do not run.
• Text that reflows and stays readable when zoomed, and on small screens, without horizontal scrolling.
• Descriptive link text and page titles, and a declared page language.
• No auto-playing media, no content that flashes, and no time limits on anything.
• The site works with JavaScript disabled. Nothing essential is behind a script.

Known limitations

Being straight about this is more useful than a clean-looking page:

• Clinical photography is inherently visual. A before-and-after image cannot be fully conveyed in words. We write the most specific alt text we can and every case is also described in the surrounding text, so the reasoning and the outcome are available in prose whether or not you can see the photograph.
• We have not commissioned a third-party audit. The assessment behind this statement is our own. It combines automated checking with manual keyboard and screen reader testing. Automated tools catch only a portion of real barriers, so there will be things we have not found.
• We do not use an accessibility overlay or widget. That is deliberate. Overlays are widely criticised by disabled users and by accessibility practitioners for interfering with the assistive technology people already have set up. We would rather fix the underlying markup, which is what the list above is.
• Third-party pages we link to, including the dental practice's own website and social media, are outside our control and we cannot speak to their accessibility.

Getting this information another way

You do not have to use this website to get any of what is on it. Anything published here is available to you at no charge by another route, including read aloud over the phone, in large print, or in a plain-text or other electronic format that works with your software. Ask for whatever format is useful and we will provide it. If a page is blocking you from booking a consultation, call and book it directly; nothing on this site is a required step.

We aim to respond within 5 business days, and to tell you what we are going to do about it and roughly when. If the fix will take time, we will give you the information you were after in the meantime, by whatever route works for you.

How this site was assessed

Self-evaluation, carried out by the site's developer using a combination of automated accessibility checking, manual keyboard-only navigation, screen reader testing, and contrast measurement against the WCAG AA thresholds. Last reviewed August 13, 2026. Accessibility is treated as ongoing work here rather than a box that was ticked once.
