Real enamel has micro-texture that catches light unevenly. Flat, polished porcelain reads as fake instantly.

Preparing a tooth removes enamel, and enamel does not grow back. The tooth will need something on it for the rest of your life. That is a fine trade when the teeth needed the help.

The goal is work people cannot pick out. The reason bad veneers are obvious is uniformity: every tooth the same width, the same flat white, no translucency at the biting edge. Real enamel is none of those things. Yours are shaped to your face and layered so light passes through the edges the way it does in a natural tooth. That is the standard the design aims for.
It depends on how wide your smile is when you actually smile, not on a package. Most full smile-line cases involve eight to ten. Narrower smiles take six, and some cases take only two to fix what is bothering them. You will be shown exactly where the design needs to stop so it does not create a visible line between treated and untreated teeth.
Some enamel has to be removed so the porcelain has room to sit without looking bulky, but the amount is deliberately minimal and only where it serves the result. Teeth are never reduced further than the design requires. If your case can be handled with bonding instead, you will be told that.
Well-made porcelain, placed correctly and looked after, commonly lasts 10 to 20 years or more. What shortens that: grinding without a night guard, skipping cleanings, and using your front teeth as tools. Porcelain is highly resistant to stain, so the color holds for years.
Veneers here start at $1,750 per tooth and most cases run to around $2,500, with how many teeth are involved moving the total more than anything else. So any full figure quoted before an exam is a guess. The stages before it are published too: the exam starts at $99 and the mockup at about $500. Every one of those is a starting point rather than a quote. After the exam you get an itemized plan with real figures, and as of this writing there is no deposit on top of it.
Treatment is done with proper anesthesia and an unhurried approach. Most patients describe it as far easier than they expected, and “gentle” is the word that comes up most often in reviews. Some temperature sensitivity for a few days afterwards is normal and settles.
